The History of Zero Gravity Kiteboarding

Peter Nordby
Zero Gravity Kiteboarding was the vision of the late Peter Nordby. He was the most charismatic individual we were blessed to know. Pete had a grand vision of a world of kiteboarding beyond board production - more of a kiteboarding "experience" if you will. The partners at Zero Gravity Kiteboarding strive to fulfill Pete's vision by providing the highest level of kiteboarding experiences possible. Boards were not readily available. Pete was building windsurf boards for Bassett Sailboards at the time, so he immediately started shaping kiteboards for the locals in Corpus Christi. By December, word was out that a mainland shaper was building kiteboards exclusively, and in 1998 the kiteboard factory was born.

The Zero Gravity Kiteboarding factory grew to a full blown custom shop, building kiteboards for everyone from pros to complete beginners. Texas kiteboarding retailers were all carrying hand made stock models. The focus was on making the boards handle better and go upwind with ease. The brand got an instant reputation for being easier to ride ...

... and that is a quality that beginners, and pros alike, appreciate in their boards.

The Loss of a Friend
2003 brought some changes to Zero Gravity Kiteboarding with the loss of beloved friend and founder, Peter Nordby. In November of 2002, Tony Brady, remaining partner, joined forces with wife Jane Brady, to fulfill the vision Pete saw for Zero Gravity. Zero Gravity is a presenting sponsor of the US Open Kiteboarding championship, the kiteboarding competition of the Velocity Games presented by Nisson. Zero Gravity became the only kiteboarding company to offer high-end custom kiteboards using Durasurf rails and carbon fiber cloth exclusivly. The team didn't stop there. Zero Gravity is heading up an effort to restore and develop launch areas in Corpus Christi and South Texas, protecting the environment and keeping our beaches clean.

The New Look of Zero G Boards
Today, Zero Gravity is led by Tony Brady owner, and Jerry Hartung who leads up the Zero Gravity Kiteboard R&D development with the talents of kiteboard builders Robert Henderson and West Hansen. Before yellow was trendy, the new Zero Gravity kiteboards were amazing their riders with the new stealth yellow shapes built from materials no one's seen in a kiteboard before. Considerable effort and pride has gone into the latest shapes which are an extension of the early innovations from Zero Gravity's past. Zero Gravity spares no effort in the use of the best materials for these boards. Every component of the boards is CNC machined to the precision of one one-thousandth (1/1000th) of an inch

Zero Gravity Kiteboarding follows in the tradition of Peter Nordby, where quality is more important than quantity. All kiteboards are hand built with precision by kiteboarders in the USA.
